“The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams," Eleanor Roosevelt said this at one point in time, and it’s more relevant now than ever. To this, we would like to add a quote by an unidentified speaker who said, “The achievements of a child are the silent triumphs of an entire generation.” Rahini’s exemplary and successful attempt at entrepreneurship is one such achievement honored at the 4th edition of the Asian Education Awards 2024, in Bangkok.

Rahini is a Grade 3 student at BXCL International School, Penang, Malaysia. At such a young age, she is the founder of Gen Alpha Publication and Gen Alpha Preschool. These two initiatives by Rahini are a remarkable effort for the development, education, and well-being of the Alpha generation.

On the sidelines of the Asian Education Awards 2024, Rahini had a candid conversation with AED where she spoke her mind and shared her plans.

AED: You’ve accomplished so much at such a young age—what inspired you and how did you come up with the idea of starting Gen Alpha Publication and create educational materials?

Rahini: Since young I’ve been exposed to the early learning environment and learned the methods to teach and design worksheets. I learn from my mother when she is conducting meetings for teachers. I learn each and every method of speaking to parents, an explanation of the curriculum and the need for teaching aids, and preparation of teaching aids from my Mom (mom).

Recently, during the school term holidays, I came up with word cards and videos on how to teach young kids using the word cards I designed. I also came up with many maths worksheets and lesson plans as well as teaching aids to show samples to my mother to be used in the school for age 4.

My mom was very impressed and suggested to printing and using it in the school. I urged my mom to sell it to everyone and also to donate to poor kids in Africa, India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Myanmar.

Note: She planned to distribute the flashcards for free for preschool kids. This ended up in the creation of Gen Alpha Publications.

The name Gen Alpha came about because Rahini was born in the generation of Alpha. She loved the name when being informed and thus chose this name and the logo was designed according to her favorite colors.

With this she had the idea to establish her own school which has become a reality. She is a co-founder of the brand and school Gen Alpha. A premium branded preschool in Penang, Malaysia.

AED: How do you balance your studies, creative projects, and running your YouTube channel and website as a Grade 3 student?

Rahini: I only do this during my holidays. On weekdays, I have many activities; badminton. golf, piano, and ballet.

I create worksheets during my free time, write stories in a book, and record videos. My YouTube channel is not online yet. In 2025 I’ll get it done.

AED: Which subject has been your favorite so far, and why do you enjoy it the most?

Rahini: I love all subjects especially English, Maths and Science, also PE & Music, Mandarin. I love my teachers and the way they teach me.

AED: You aspire to earn a Professional Doctorate in Education and lead an educational institution. What is your vision for the future of education?

Rahini: Hmm ? I want to do what my mom does. I want to open many Gen Alpha schools in Malaysia and overseas and become the CEO.

I want all kids to love going to school. I want to create fun learning, play and learn materials, and create a happy learning environment in schools.

AED: Having received international awards and recognition, what would you tell other kids who want to follow their dreams like you?

Rahini: I want them to try. When they have ideas, share with their mom or dad so that they can help out. I want all the kids to have confidence and say “I can do it.” Dream, Believe, and attract what you want and kids can see the magic happens… I’ve seen it and it’s their turn next! We are born to lead!
