The United States, and India, followed by the United Kingdom rank as the top three nations at ‘Average Books Read Per Year by Country 2025.’
You must have often heard about the drastic decline in the number of readers; people don’t like to read anymore. It’s massively discouraging and makes one wonder about the fate of books and publications that toil so hard to bring about quality books, journals, newspapers, and the like. Well, the situation doesn’t seem so dark. At least, going by the findings of the study published by the World Population Review.
When it comes to purchasing books, the three countries that we mentioned above rank in the same order. So, they buy books as well, which further confirms their affinity towards reading. The study mentioned that an individual buys 17 books in a year, on average. Interestingly, though America’s electronic media consumption has risen in the past few years yet they read more printed books than e-books. India is the next nation to buy the most books (an Indian buys 16 books on average in a year), and the third nation is the United Kingdom, which buys 15 books in a year, on average.
The whys and hows can wait for a while because this is indeed positive news, let that sin in for a while. A well-read society is an informed, well-equipped, and potent force for developmental changes.
